It has been a fruitful spring for researchers at the School of Nursing and Health Studies, whose work has been published in journals and a new book.
Professor Cynthia L. Russell, Ph.D., R.N., who leads an interprofessional team in transplantation research, was a co-author of two published studies: “Variability in Practice Patterns Regarding Protective Isolation Measures After Heart Transplant,” in the American Journal of Infection Control, and “Validation of the Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) Short Form Scale in Heart Transplant Recipients: the International Cross-Sectional Bright Study,” by BMC Health Services Research.
Assistant Professor Carli Zegers, Ph.D., APRN-NP, FNP-BC, was a co-author of “Developing Tomorrow’s Nursing Leaders: How The Future of Nursing – Campaign for Action Promotes Leadership,” a chapter in the book Advanced Practice Nursing Leadership: A Global Perspective.” The book highlights global Advance Practice Nursing leadership and includes case studies on leadership from around the world, mentioning UMKC in Zegers’ chapter.
And the research of Katie Huhmann, DNP ’19, “Barriers and Facilitators to Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening in Somali Immigrant Women: An Integrative Review,” was published by the Oncology Nursing Forum.
