The track is ideal for an RN who wants to fulfill the increasing demand for nurses to be baccalaureate prepared, in a dynamic healthcare environment. The FNP track prepares students for advanced practice of nursing in the primary healthcare of children and adults, across the life span, through an online-hybrid program. This role provides a wide range of health services from acute, chronic and wellness care to health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling.
The NNP track educates leaders in newborn healthcare. This online program is focused on health management of neonates and their families and prepares neonatal nurse practitioners to manage both critically and chronically ill neonates.
The online-hybrid program is completed online. A graduate degree as a Nurse Educator prepares you for a leadership role in academia, staff development and the community, preparing nurse educators to employ cutting-edge teaching strategies in the didactic and clinical setting, synthesize teaching and learning theories and acquire skills in curriculum development.
The online-hybrid program allows professionals a flexible study schedule but also provides a chance to collaborate with a cohort. The PMHNP track allows students to provide a full range of psychiatric services to patients. Our graduates work in outpatient mental health clinics, psychiatric emergency services, private practice and hospitals. They also provide primary mental healthcare that involves continuous and comprehensive services necessary to improve mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance.
The PNP emphasis area prepares students for advance practice nursing in the care of infants, children, and adolescents. Clinical experiences are conducted with preceptors in community or outpatient settings for primary care and in an acute care setting for the post-MSN acute care PNP.

The majority of the hybrid program is completed online except for a hands-on research class held for up to four days each summer during your first two years on the UMKC campus. Post-BSN students are required to take 12 credit hours of master's level coursework prior to beginning 61 hours of PhD coursework.
