About

Dr. Sally Ellis Fletcher, PhD, RN, FNAP, FADLN currently serves as the Associate Dean for Students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SoNHS). In this role she promotes the SoNHS’s core values and student success in undergraduate and graduate programs. She is responsible for Student Services, oversees SoNHS scholarships, and works collaboratively to embrace an inclusive environment by exploring biases, prejudices, stereotypes, and belonging in personal, professional, and institutional practices and policies.

Dr. Ellis Fletcher has taught or served in a clinical capacity in private, public, urban, and rural organizations. Her practice areas include nursing education, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), multiculturalism, entrepreneurship in nursing, mentoring, and humanitarianism. She has served on the advisory board for a humanitarian mission trip to Ghana, West Africa; represents the SoNHS on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Leadership Network; is a Fellow in the National Academy of Practice; is in her third term on the board of a local shelter for any family structure that’s experienced domestic or intimate partner violence; is a member of the UMKC Chancellor’s Diversity Council; and is on the board of the UMKC Women’s Council.
