Onekia has been with the School of Nursing and Health Studies in 2004. She support all aspects of the undergraduate BSN Traditional and Accelerated Program and coordinates the annual BSN White Coat Ceremony and Pinning Ceremony. She serves as the staff for the Student Affairs Committee as well as the PREP KC HealthStart and KC Health Tracks High school programs. Onekia also works alongside with the Student Nurses Association and the Lambda Phi Chapter Nursing Honor Society.
