Dr. Cheri Barber is a valuable member of the pediatric nursing community and an asset to advanced practice leadership. Dr. Barber is the DNP Director and the PNP Programs Coordinator. An expert in the domains of clinical practice and education at both the graduate and doctorate level. She is a skilled clinician, highly regarded for her clinical expertise in the care of children and families and clearly understands how the role of a leader in clinical practice transcends directly into the practice setting. Not only has she delivered high quality primary care in a variety of settings since becoming certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP), but she has assumed leadership roles in national organizations, as President of both the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and the Association of Faculties for PNPs (AFPNP) for which she has been a continuing participant in the Licensure Accreditation Certification and Education (LACE) Network. Because of her expertise in clinical practice, she has had innumerable opportunities to extend her influence on behalf of children through teaching the next generation of providers, community service, educating the public and leaders on the importance of health care for children and as a role model of the nurse practitioner as a primary care provider.
