The Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a unique, three-year clinical program for freshmen and transfer students who have not already completed a bachelor’s degree in another field of study.  In addition to time spent in the classroom, the program consists of 1200 clinical and lab hours completed throughout the Kansas City area, including 300 hours of clinical internship in the final semester.  Students complete general education and prerequisite courses in one to two years as pre-nursing students before applying to the three-year clinical program.  High school students interested in attending UMKC as pre-nursing students may be eligible for the Direct Admit Program, which offers eligible, first-time college students the option of a guaranteed seat in the clinical program (ACT Composite Score of 27 or higher required).
