UMKC offers scholarships, grants, loans and work-study jobs. We also roll out the welcome mat for our neighbors with the “Kansas Rate,” which awards in-state tuition for all undergraduate students from Kansas, as well as the "Heartland Rate" tuition discount for those from the 15 other states who share the Heartland of the US.

Your degree from the School of Nursing and Health Studies will allow you to join one of the highest regarded industries — health care — in the country. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates a 19.4 percent employment growth for registered nurses alone within the next 10 years. Health care and nursing consistently rank among the best jobs by U.S. News & World Report in large part because of the projected job expansion.

UMKC students are awarded about $150 million in combined financial aid every year. On average, more than three-quarters of the student body qualify for financial aid. Let the UMKC team help you understand the key deadlines for application and how to fill out the forms.

Getting started early is important. Explore these options to help determine if you’re eligible for a financial aid award during your enrollment at UMKC:

  • Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the June 30th, 2025 final deadline for the 2024-2025 school year. Use the school code 002518 to send your FAFSA to UMKC.
  • Apply for and receive admission to UMKC. In order to be considered for automatic scholarships please submit a complete application by the deadlines.
