Lorene Stephan, DNP, RN, FNP-BC

Lorene Stephan joined the graduate nursing faculty at UMKC in 2014 teaching in a variety of the DNP and MSN courses. As a board-certified family nurse practitioner, she has worked in many health care settings over the last 18 years, including primary care, women’s health, urgent and emergent care and in federally qualified health centers in Kansas and Missouri. Dr. Stephan is a member of the American Nurses Association, Kansas State Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She completed her MSN in 1998 and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2013 from the University of Kansas.
Her DNP project was a quality improvement project that assisted a county in Kansas with compiling and organizing data into mutual categories for their community health assessment. She presented her findings to the stakeholders of the county. She continues to work in community health and currently is a recipient of a prevention grant that is working with the youth and prevention of underage drinking.
